Domino Crippen's hard eyes stared around the rough campground. She could smell the smoke of fires roasting raw meat someone had caught fresh today. Children wrestled in the dirt, women sewed together rags for clothing. If someone hadn't known better, they would have thought it was the seventeenth century, not the twenty-second.
With a sigh, she dropped her heavy pack, and sat down on a rough, hand-made bench by the central fire where typically most people came together for community meetings or festivals. The giant fire-pit in the center was charred and blackened. It represented the entire camp - tired and burned out. Everything around her reminded her of how weak the survivors were, powers or not. Her camp was hugely outnumbered by the military personnel in the bio-domes, and their powers only gave them a slight advantage over the guns.
Picking up a rock at her feet, she threw it at the pit in frustration. Listening to the dim 'clack' as it hit the other rocks. She jumped when she heard a chuckle from behind her, and swung around to face the intruder on her thoughts.

Cornelius had been following creatures stealthy as a panther, his whole body lean and muscular. He had caught several mice and rats, eating them without a thought of disease or anything. They had been small, the meat tougher than he would have liked. But it was food that he didn't have to wait for, to scramble over, to beg and grovel for. He kept a pair of ragged shorts tied to his back leg, but they were well enough out of the way for his prowling. But he was full, or as full as he could be now. That's when he decided to make his way back to camp, following the scent of the humans outside the bio-domes. That's when he caught the scent of Domino. He had stalked her silently all the way back, only ready to shift himself back into the human form as she seemed to be relaxed. As he shifted, the human mind attempted to break free, to gain some sort of composure. He managed to give himself time to pull on some clothing, the shorts ragged, but they at least covered him. But the animal was still too strong, shoving the frail consciousness to the back, out of the way.
The chuckle has come from his lips, as he watched his leader spin to see him. He crossed his arms, and looked over the woman without any restraint. He didn't care if she was going to slap him, in fact, having her deny him for a while was fun. He walked close to her, and swung his leg to he was sitting with his legs spread behind and in front of the air elementa. Neal closed in, wrapping his arms around her body, lips already on the skin of her neck.
"Finally," he whispered, maneuvering the girl so she was forced to sit on his lap. "I followed you for such a long time, and you didn't even notice," he said softly, "I'm hurt. Wanna make it up to me?" He kept his grip on her rather loose, so if she did want to leave, she could. But Cornelius was hoping his leader would at least play along.

((I'm going to pretend they have a history, let me know if that works for you.))
Seeing her second in command wearing his ragged shorts, his hair in a spiked mess, almost made Dom sigh with relief. She new Cornelius fairly well, and he might even be a good guy, if his animal side hadn't dominated him. The survivor group respected him because he was a good fighter, when he wanted to be - and the girls loved him because he was the camps 'Casanova'. Dom personally never felt she had the time for most of Neal's stunts, but occasionally he was a good distraction from her own thoughts.
"I was thinking," she replied shortly, as she was forced into his lap. "Some of us actually worry about other things than hunting mice."
Dom grimaced slightly, thinking she wouldn't hear the end of it if some of the other camp members saw her now - perched like a child in Santa's lap. Yet, it was nice to feel the warmth of Neal's body through her rough clothes, and she could use some relaxation. She leaned against the muscular body, allowing her guard to drop slightly.

Neal felt the woman in his lap curl against him, and he tightened his arms around her. She felt thinner than usual, but then again most everyone felt thin. Food had been in rather short supply, and the entire camp had been a little hungrier than usual. Part of the motivation for the animalia to go out hunting. Her body was cooler against his, since he could never manage to get a temperature of below one hundred degrees Fahrenheit. He glanced around the camp and caught the eye of one of the younger boys. He seemed to be completely unamused by the fact Cornelius was cuddling with Dom.
"I was hunting other things too," he said softly, pressing his face into her hair. He breathed in deeply and let his cat instincts take over. He could almost smell the anger and resentment from her. The agony that the survivors were don't just that, and nothing more. They were once a thriving community, now only scavengers on the outside of a world that didn't want them any more. He could almost taste a hint of lilac and cinnamon. Not a combination one would usually like, but it suited Dom well. Most people also were never this close or this sensitive to her scent to realize it anyway.
"We should just attack the bio-domes," he said into her dark hair. "Destroy the rest of them, or kidnap those who are sympathetic to our cause." It was a ridiculous idea, but it could work. If all the diseased combined efforts in one swift motion. The military would know what hit them. It was too much work to just stay on the defensive, Cornelius wanted a fight, something where he could throw himself and not worry about another person's safety. Not like he restrained himself during sex or anything. Far from it, many of the girls had some of his marking left on them. Some displayed them with pride, others hid in shame.
"Unless you have something to distract me with," he said softly, moving down to attack her neck with his lips and teeth.

The camp's leader allowed herself to relax as the muscular arms tightened around her smaller figure. She could hear his heart pounding in his chest - faster than any human's. His body felt feverishly hot, but that was just another effect of the animal mutation. Dom briefly wondered if she had met Cornelius before the disease had changed him, if she'd still enjoy his company as much as she did now.
She listened as he spoke of the bio-domes, and the need for attack. Domino knew he was right, eventually the military would discover their rough camp and destroy it, killing all the innocent survivors within. The military had supplies, and technology on their side - not to mention numbers. They recruited soldiers from the civilians living within the domes. On the other hand, the camp was weak, no one here was trained for combat, the only thing they had was the mutation and the deadly disease. It might be possible to destroy the domes, if somehow they could get someone past the high-security perimeter and inside the dome and have them sneeze on a few people.
A smile cracked across her face at the thought, and feeling the nipping of Neal's teeth against the soft skin of her throat pulled her away from the thoughts of a fight. Maybe now wasn't the time to think about this, another day they would be ready, another day there would be a fight. Today they just needed to survive.
She returned to the present, retaliating from Neal's attack with a couple nips of her own on his neck, sometimes wishing she could be as carefree as the older animalia was. "I think I might be able to help with a little distraction." her voice was low, and playful.

He chuckled, the sound almost like a purr rather than a laugh. But it didn't stop him. A jolt of adrenaline hit his bloodstream as she reciprocated his bites.
“I was hoping you’d say something like that,” he half purred into her ear. He let her out of the embrace, and he pulled her around to face him completely. His lips crashed onto hers. Forgoing the usual foreplay, he kissed her fiercely. His hands roamed up and down her arms, down to her waist and hips. Neal could feel her soft skin through the clothing, and grabbed her wrist. He brought her hand to his own chest, her palm cool against the burning he felt from within.
“So are we putting on a show for all to see?” he asked, pulling away from her for a moment. “Or should we pick someone’s bed?” Secretly Neal wanted just to have his way with her right here, where anyone could see them. But there were children, and most of the older survivors might be annoyed with seeing the two making whoopee. He let his hand slide down to her knee, curling around to touch the inside of her thigh. All thoughts of attacking the bio-dome was out of his head. Neal was only thinking of one thing now – getting Domino naked and getting laid. As he leaned in to kiss her neck again, he could see more disapproving glares, and scoffs. He merely winked at them and let his hand slide further up his leader’s leg.
