The sun rose over the mountains, sparkling in the clear air. Everything was still around the lake, nothing moved. The shade was thick from the surrounding trees, the surface of the lake glittering. Lush green grass moved with a slight breeze that disturbed the silence. The sun continued to rise, bright yellow, a cloudless day. A large oak tree leaned close to the edge of the lake, a few branches stretching out over the lake. Fish glistened as they moved in the water, darting back and forth. But something was slinking, moving through the branches. They bent slightly as the lean black mass stepping carefully. The paws touched lightly as claws bit into the bark to keep the large black panther on the branch. It was no wild panther though, as it edged along the branch. The bright green eyes of the cat peered into the water, watching as the fish swam in and out of sight. Lightly he jumped from the branch onto the grass, leaving a slight indent.
He stalked to the edge of the lake, and looked over into the water again. In a flash of motion and a spray of water a paw was in the cold depths and had clawed at a fish. But it was swimming away already, trailing crimson. The panther growled, annoyed he had missed. Again he sat at the edge watching the fish, waiting for another one to come his way. Minutes passed, and another flash of motion the panther had left it's paw in the water and pulled out a shining fish. Blood splattered on the ground as the panther pawed at it, and began to eat.
